AM/PM or Does It Matter?

Last night, my Mom and I went to yoga and it was life changing. I was so relaxed and sore by the end, I felt alive and amazing. I found myself releasing all the stress from the day and just breathing and I was much more awake than working out before the sun comes up.

When my alarm went off this morning, there was no way I was going to get up and work out…my core and legs were still screaming at me from what I put them threw mere hours before hand. That being said, I want to get some exercise in today, so I’m thinking I’ll try evening workouts and see if that’s better than 4:30am workouts. Stay tuned…

And more strawberries. They had them on sale Monday, 3 for $5, so I’ll be eating them until they are gone.

Lunch:

I bought a different type of bread at Trader Joe’s and I can’t believe how filling it is! It’s called Whole Grain Fiber bread and it has 5 grams of fiber per slice. Yes, please! I also had my standard salad that I can’t get enough of lately and…more strawberries.

I’ve always been a big believer in first thing in the AM workouts, but that’s also when I had a full time job. Maybe evening workouts will be better for me? Maybe I won’t be so tired all the time?

What is your stance? Is morning or evening better, or doesn’t make a difference?

Love the ability of yoga to do that for your mind and body! I need to do it more often.

I wish I could workout in the morning, but with my work schedule, it’s easier for me to do evening workouts. I just need to find a way to get there earlier in the evening before I eat dinner. I love working out mid-morning on the weekends. It feels so good to get my workout done for the day.

I can’t do it before dinner, 3 little ones with an early bedtime means we eat pretty early, but there’s not a law that says after they are showered and ready for bed that I can’t workout!

I firmly believe the best time to work out is the time that you will actually stick to. I tried morning workouts, but they weren’t for me. I do better working out after work!

I am with Janetha – while I do like getting my exercise out of the way first thing – that way I get at least one work out in if life throws me a curve ball – and I never used to be a morning person!

Love the hot sauce on the breakfast sammie! :D

I think the best time to workout it… whenever you will actually DO IT. When I used to workout more at night I dreaded it and would often skip it. But if I get up and get it over with I’m better with it. It’s really personal preference!

I agree with what Janetha said, and was going to say the same thing. For me, I prefer to work out in the morning, but don’t do that most weekdays, because it requires getting up at 4:30 am and rushing and showering at the gym. Blech. I only do that on Tuesdays when I get PAID to teach spin class. My husband is at the gym at 5 every morning, but he works from home. Lucky bastard. :)
    Isn’t yoga great?!
I’ve been eating that TJs broccoli slaw all week- it’s awesome!

*Any* workout time would be better than 4:30am! I hope you find something that works well for you–that is the key. And yay, you for going to yoga! Isn’t it incredible? I used to have a hard time being so still and slow-moving, but the older I get the more I have come to “get” it, and love how it makes me feel. Nothing else really compares because you get both the body and mind aspects in one shot. Perfect.

You are so lucky to have your mom to workout with! My mom would never do that… I love working out in the morning. By evening I’m tired and cranky so I would never workout as hard as I would in the morning. I found your blog accidentally and am so glad I did. Can’t wait to follow along!

I tend to do mid-morning workouts (I don’t have a job), but really I think whatever time hits your high energy spot is best. Occasionally I change it up and do a evening (around 6) workout and do find it can be a good way to work out the stresses of the day. Of course, the laundry is still waiting when I get home. :)

I used to be team workout in the PM but I’ve been hitting up the gym in the am before work lately and I’m loving it! Less people but the same crowd in the morning plus they have pretty decent locker room facilities so I can get ready with no issues. Plus with it getting so dark earlier there is no way I want to leave the house after I’m home from work.

    YOGA! My love… :)

I LOATHE morning workouts. I am not a morning person in the slightest, and I actually feel less energized and awesome when I work out in the morning than if I do in the evening. PM workouts work best for me!

I have to workout in the mornings otherwise it just doesn’t happen. After work I am just too tired! Also, I have read several places it’s easier to get used to working out first thing….I’m not sure because it is still hard after months, but the fact others find it easier keeps me motivated.
