Naturally Thin by Bethenny Frankel

I love fitness and nutrition books, I’m a sucker for them LOL!!! I just like reading the information and then fitting different things into my life and lifestyle change.

When I bought Master Your Metabolism, I saw Naturally Thin next to it on the shelf and thought, why not? So, I bought them both.

I haven’t started reading it yet, but I’ll post a review when I’m done :)

Book Review: Master Your Metabolism by Jillian Michels

The first section of this book was fantastic, she talked about all the different hormones, metabolic disorders, hormone disorders and what each and every hormone did. I really enjoyed that, there were things I had no idea on and it was a real eye opener.

The rest of the book was a lesson in eating and living organically. Not bad, overall, but I was hoping the book would be something more to it than that.

Overall, it was a good book and I learned a lot, but I really didn’t want a book on all of the scary facts of NOT living organically, and all the different chemicals we are exposed to every day.

Walking Goal

I am a huge numbers and list person. To have a countodown to something or a list really helps keep me motivated and on track. Way back in 2007 (like it was SO long ago!!), a friend of mine and I had this little challenge going to see who could *run* their way to California. We set up a ticker countdown with the miles from 1 spot to CA and then every day (or whenever we ran, treadmill, elliptical, outside, bike, whatever…) we entered in our miles. It was quite the lofty goal LOL! I never even got close and then got pregnant.

I would like to do something similar, but I’m not quite as ambitious this time around…so my first goal is 100 miles.

Catching Up

Ok, so now that my blog is private, I can feel comfortable posting again. I was receiving some very questionable comments and of course the person was to much of a coward to leave anything but anonymous comments…BLAH!

I have really been trying to focus on the positive things in my life: kids, husband, house, and trying to stay happy even though some days I feel like giving up. I’m trying to focus more on getting healthy than just losing the weight and making this a complete change in my life and I have to say, it’s working. I love changing our old menu items into healthier items and going to restaurants (when we do go out) is now a game to see how healthy I can order and still enjoy the meal :) . I am trying to get back into my exercise groove, something that is really hard lately!

Today was my weigh in day and I was very happy!!

Last Week: 184
Today: 181

I am SO ready to be out of the 180′s already…this is crazy!!! I’m hoping next week is the week!

My goals for this week:

1. Drink 80 oz of water daily
2. Exercise 6 days a week
3. Stay positive even when my world is crashing around me…

Weigh In Day And Test Results

Everything came back 100% normal. My cholesterol is low, my progesterone is normal and my thyroid is actually on the high side of normal. He looked through my food and exercise journal and said I obviously know HOW to lose the weight, I just need to do it. He suggested eating more fruits, veggies and whole grains (which I’ve been trying to do) and cut out all fast food, pizza (sigh! LOL!) and limit eating out. When I do eat out, I really need to be vigilant about what foods to order. The only thing that is borderline high is my blood pressure, this always happens when I am this weight; so along with watching the fat and calorie contents of food, I really need to watch the sodium as well, and drink more water.

As for exercising, he said I really need to start doing more, which I knew, I guess I just needed to hear it. Walking with the kids every afternoon is fine, but I also need to do a heart pumping, sweaty hour long (at least) work out 5-6 days a week. There is a registered dietician who works in the office as well as an endicrinologist and I met with the two of them today as well, so it was a really good appointment.

Oh, according to their scale, I’m down 3lbs. YAY! I have to go back in 4 months, and they would like me to be down at least 15lbs. At that point, they’ll draw more blood and we’ll go from there :) .

So, now it’s time to up my game!!! I’m going to do this, my kids need me!
